a day with my valentines.

lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all
but lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall
in these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
where you invest your love, you invest your life
-mumford & sons, awake my soul
I made my valentine for seth this year. some felt, a few buttons, and some handy stitching on the sewing machine. my hand made stuff isn't as amazing as his handywork, but its the effort that counts.
audrey climbed her first step on her own yesterday. this was a huge accomplishment considering she hates the stairs and wants nothing to do with them. but this past weekend her buddy, jack, gave her a run for her money when she watched him climb all the stairs in his house, and he is 6 months her junior. my little cautious, timid girl.
she got herself stuck and wasn't too keen on me taking pictures instead of "helping" her get down. this staircase meltdown was promptly followed by a nice afternoon nap.

upon waking up, I decided we should have some girl time which involved lounging on the couch reading books. this happens to be one of audrey's favorite things to do these days.

this was followed by the young victoria and choc. chip cookies from sticky fingers bakery, a treat from aunt becca.
having a child now has made me rethink "holidays" and this year I made a v-day garland for our dining room and mantle. thank you purl bee for the wonderful idea. it was fun, cheap, and super easy to make. the beauty of it...you could make one for every holiday, just change up the colors. I'm already planning on making another one to decorate with for our annual cinco de mayo party in may.

the day ended with dinner with my lovey from chipotle and a trip to bed, bath & beyond. exciting I know. but truth be told, I don't enjoy going out to celebrate on the actual day to pay for overpriced food, crowded restaurants, and bad service. less is more on a holiday like this.
